Transfer FROM FIU

Call me crazy, but I’m considering going from FIU to Miami-Dade College to do one of their 4 year degrees. I cannot stand FIU anymore for too many reasons that I do not feel like typing out. My FIU experience has been hell. It’s impossible to find a professor that speaks fluent English or that has anything higher than a 3.0 rating. Advising is awful and misleading. MDC is cheaper and the education is probably about the same. I’m not into college sports or “parties”, nor do I want to go far from home just yet. So that narrows my options down to either staying at FIU or going to MDC. I couldn’t care less about “notoriety”, because frankly, FIU and MDC both have no perks outside of Florida.

I’m looking to start a business, and I don’t want to do grad school or anything like that, at least for now. That being said, I really don’t care about what school my degree says I went to, I just want the degree for my own satisfaction.

Anyone ever go from FIU to MDC, or if you aren’t from Miami, go from a university to a smaller college? Once again, I’m talking about a 4 year program, not an AA.

Please save your “You need to graduate with a 4.0 in 3 years from a top 10 school to land a job” comments. I know I’m more than capable of getting a good full time job with my work experience, and a degree from MDC is better than no degree at all.

Frankly, I don’t think that that is crazy. If you do not like the school, transferring to another one is good option. You gotta do whatever is right for you.

I am not familiar with transferring from FIU to MDC, but I know a lot of people who like MDC. However, be aware, that MDC also has some professors who do not speak English perfectly. FIU and MDC are similar in that way. Some would even say that there are more Spanish-speaking students at MDC than English-speaking ones.

Personally, I am at Broward College, and I absolutely LOVE it here. If you are considering transferring to a smaller college in the area, then I’d highly recommend looking at BC. They also have some great 4-year programs, which you might want to check out. Like you, I am not a fan of “parties,” but BC offers so many amazing professional opportunities. Going there was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. Several friends of mine are currently pursuing their 4-year programs.
