Transfer from GSU to UGA or GT

I’m a sophomore at Georgia State University and I’m a CIS major. Recently Georgia Perimeter College (a community college with multiple campuses) consolidated with GSU. GSU is an okay college but now I’m worried that the consolidation will “devalue” the degree. From what I understand, GSU is still keeping its main campus selective. The GPC campuses will admit anybody and give out GSU associate degrees. I am getting a bachelors degree but I was wondering with more people saying they have a “GSU” degree, is it going to devalue mine?

I was wondering if I should transfer to University of Georgia or Georgia Tech which are nationally recognized schools. However GSU’s CIS program is ranked 8th by USNEWS. UGA is also ranked 8th and GT is ranked 10th. But GT’s business college is ranked the highest out of the 3 and UGA is 2nd. Im so confused on whether to transfer I have a 3.97 GPA so GPA isn’t an issue. However both schools core requirements a slight difference with GSU and I’m not sure if its worth the extra time and money to align with the requirements and transfer.

Is it worth transferring? Do employers care? How well known is GSU’s Robinson college of business. Even though the CIS program is ranked 8th, do employers know its actually good? BTW I have heard that GT students easily get jobs.

Up to you. Really doesn’t matter except the high gpa.

Hello!

I’m transferring from GSU too. I never wanted to attend in the first place and it was my safety school. As for the consolidation between GSU and GPC, I know I’m not happy about it. GSU needs to focus on getting better and not bigger.

As for the core of your question, for CIS and your GPA, you could definitely get into Tech or UGA. I would probably consider Tech more highly since they do cater more towards the fields you are interested in as well as holding a bit more prestige. I heard the CIS is great at UGA too, but obviously, the lack of closer internship opportunities provided by the Atlanta area may be a problem for you. Tech students are also highly employable, especially as a CIS major. I honestly think you will be fine at Tech or UGA.

Transfer if you really don’t find GSU to be your fit or if you aren’t satisfied with your education there. GSU has a decent business college, but I don’t think it beats Scheller or Terry.
