@bearcats, giants92
well, thanks for the information. actually I can not go to columbia right now since I just replied and the chances of getting in are slim…
thanks anyway.

Don’t worry. If you stick with Ross, get good grades, obtain leadership positions in extracurricular activities, etc., you will be on the right track for top companies.

Novi, I actually agree with Giants. Academically, Michigan LSA and Columbia are roughly equal. However, in terms of career offices, the Columbia career office is more active than the Michigan LSA career office. That’s because the College of Engineering and Ross each have their own career office whereas Columbia only has one career office for all undergrads. As a result of the fragmentation in Michigan’s career offices, comapnies approach them specifically. Most technology firms seeking undergrads will approach the CoE career center at Michigan and most IBanks and Consulting firms seeking undergrads will approach the ross career center. Many IBanks and Consulting firms also recruit heavily at the CoE directly because they require quants and the CoE is filled with such students. As a result, the LSA career office is not as active as those at schools like Columbia, which are central to all students. It does not have to be this way. LSA’s career office could be much more active if it wished to be, but it is lazy.

This said, Giants generally portays a very gloomy picture. IBanks and Consulting firms do recruit through LSA, but not nearly as heavily as they do at Ross.

Might be gloomy, but I have said nothing untrue.
