I am currently a freshman at UC Berkeley and am interested in doing the premed track. I recently got accepted into Vanderbilt and Tufts as a Transfer student and need to make a decision by May 2nd. Can you give me advice on which school I should pursue?
I have friends in the Boston Area and don’t know anyone in Nashville, but heard that Nashville is a nice city.
Take this with a grain of salt, but I have read that Vandy isn’t that catering towards transfer students or Asians. But then again, if you are an outgoing and social female, you probably won’t have a hard time anywhere you go. Have you visited either campuses?
@eliusive Hello! Sorry that this is off topic but how were your stats at UC Berkeley? I’m currently a Berkeley student planning on transferring out because I don’t like the environment here/the grade deflation…I would really appreciate your advice on GPA and how you got rec letters from professors, it’s such a big school and with the huge classes I dont know how to get good letters from them…
@cc3737 Getting recommendation letters is pretty straightforward, don’t be discouraged with big class sizes!
No matter how large your class is, establishing a relationship with a professor is more or less the same. Performing well, sitting front row, introducing yourself (obviously), and attending office hours is the best way for your professor to get to know you, and to recognize your effort and participation (which is important, since he/she will be writing about you!)
@TransferStalker thank you for your advice!! I have one professor that I was semi-close to during the first semester of my freshman year. If I want a rec letter from them to transfer to another college, do I ask them for a transfer rec letter or is a regular rec letter just fine?
