transfer from ucla to smaller school--pre-med

hello,

i’m a sophomore at ucla who’s trying very hard but not doing well in science classes (2.95 science gpa). i think it’s either how they teach here or that students don’t have close attention…like i think i understand the material (the TAs and profs don’t personally ask you questions to make sure you got the material down) then i don’t score well… so i want to transfer to a school that is:

smaller–more attention

easier to get better grades–at ucla, average for science classes is curved to B-/C+ and it is even more harsh b/c the students are so smart! :(

suggested but not a primary reason that will be put in an application–perhaps one that is less urban–the city is distracting

the thing is i really want to go to med school and would like to avoid a postbac program if possible. i hope that my science gpa will be high enough (meaning As/A-s in my upper div classes if i ultimately choose a science major) to graduate then apply. definitely taking a year off.

another problem is that many transfer deadlines have passed. i didn’t know my quarter grades until after…and that’s when i’m convinced that ucla is not for me if i wanna pursue premed successfully.

any suggestions? thanks.
