Transfer from UCSB

I'm currently a freshman at UCSB and I am from Riverside. When I applied last fall, I got into UCR and UCSB and I chose to attend UCSB to kinda get away from home. My parents said I would have to stay at home if I went UCR, which I didnt want to do so I went off to Santa Barbara. Nonetheless I'm here now and have realized I made a poor decision. I'm currently reapplying to UCR as a lower division transfer. The pre-business major is closed to sophomores, which I want to do because I want to major in Business Administration. So I'm putting Business Econ and Econ as my major and alternative majors. Now to my question, if I am admitted again to UCR under the Biz Econ major, can I switch my major to Pre-business before I reach Junior standing and hopefully pursue business administration? Or would I be locked in as a Biz Econ major? Oh and by the time I finish my first year I expect to have 82 units due to AP credits that UCSB accepted. I'm not sure if UCR accepts them as well.
Thanks, any and all help is appreciated.

Also I've considered just leaving UCSB for winter and spring quarters and going to RCC before transferring to UCR. Do lower divison community college transfers have a chance at all? Or would it be in my best interest to finish the year off at Santa Barbara?

finish UCSB, RCC has virtually no classes open. You will be lucky if you get waitlisted for one class there.

I don’t have any advice, but my daughter will be applying to UCSB along with many other schools this year. Would you be comfortable sharing why UCSB hasn’t lived up to your expectations, or why you’ve decided to transfer? Don"t mean to pry but we would love to hear poslitive and negative feedback about the school.

Honestly this is such a loaded question that you might want to just call the academic advisor here and try to get help that way. My recommendation to you though is to stay at UCSB for the rest of the year because as someone said above me the CC would probably be extremely packed BUT you can also call them because some CC’s do allow for those with higher units to pick classes first.

Ironically I’m the situation of deciding whether or not I want to leave UCR and do a CC back home and transfer to UCSD later =/ But good luck to you!

My friends would kill to be at either of your schools. A specific college won’t make you - college and your educaton is what you make of it. You are both at great schools so why not focus on making it work for you? If you keep spending all your energy on changing schools/getting admitted/readmitted you will spend tons of money and never experience anything. Adjusting to college life is tough but there is no reason to cut and run. Stay put for awhile and see what transpires. You might actually know what you really want by then.

I, too, am quite perplexed as to why you might prefer UCSB to UCR. Both are fine schools, but the environment of UCSB seems to be so much better.
