transfer from UCSD to UCLA?

hi im currently a freshman attending UCSD, and im really intent on trasnferring out of here, most preferrably to UCLA...so i was wondering what are the chances of this actualy happening, and more importantly, what wil UCLA be looking for in my app? is it like highschool again where its all ur gpa, or will they need a reason/explanation for why i want to transfer?

thanks a lot guys for ur help

They look at your GPA and extra curriculars.
Just try to maintain a high GPA. Preferably a gpa of >3.5 for an inter-UC campus transfer.

Here's the statistics for all the UC transfers to UCLA for the fall 2006 semesters. The numbers aren't too great but you still have a better shot that someone attending a CSU or an OOS college.

If you list some of your stats, we can try evaluating your chances if you'd like.

he's a freshman, he doesn't have stats. anyways, there's a couple guys that went from SD to Berkeley or LA. youshould probably get around a 3.5 and you'll be good. whats more important is your major. if you major in econ you need like a 3.8

thanks guys for ur input, i really appreciate it

wil they take into account my high school grades/test scores? or is it purely what i do this year? and its not possible to transfer as an undeclared right? thankss!

UC system does not care about your high school GPA or the SAT score. It's puretly the college records in addition to the essay and ECs (FOR THE COLLEGE YEAR, NOT THE HIGH SCHOOL).

So even if you had like 2.5 gpa for high school (which im sure you didnt since you got in to UCSD) with no EC, if you do super well on college and get a GPA above 3.8 with lots of good ECs + Stellar essay, you'll have no problem with transfer to another UC.

i might be at SD for only a year because i have soph standing...in this time shud i focus more on my gpa or shud i try to be well rounded, becuase im guessing it wil be pretty hard to get adjusted to college life AND have leadership positions at the same time while maintaining a stellar gpa

thanks guys for ur help

GPA is THE #1 Factor.

Even if it means you'll lose all your friend and be called anti-social, if you maintain a 4.0 GPA with a job (that's right, no clubs or organization. A Job will be just as sufficient), you'll have no prob.
