Transfer from VSB from Bryn Mawr College

This is my first year at Bryn Mawr and I like the school but I don't think the small liberal arts environment is right for my business career aspirations. I am an econ major and have straight A's/A-'s so far (but that can change anytime).

Hypothetically, if I get a GPA between a 3.7 and 4.0 for one year and submit my transfer application next year, would I have a shot? I heard that external transfers to the VSB were really rare. I really want to go to this school and regret not having known about this in high school.

Edit: title should say "to VSB"

You should be fine. Getting into Bryn Mawr is no small feat, so your high school resume combined with want you’ve done there (and your econ major) should spell success

What makes you think a liberal arts college is not the place for your business career aspirations?

Top LACs are among the highest producers of eventual MBAs from top business schools.

It sounds like you are in a hurry and want to get a BBA and get out in the workforce. But in the long-term, an MBA will be worth more to you than a BBA. You won’t be unhirable with a BBA, but you’ll get passed over for someone with an MBA much more than a few times.

And if you do eventually get an MBA after already getting a BBA, you will likely be bored to tears as the MBA program rehashes so much that you have already learned. You’ll be learning it twice just to get the status in the job market you deserve for learning it once.

Why not take full advantage of the respected, prestigious LAC you are currently attending? Spend 4 years diversifying your thinking, feeding your mind with variety. Then get the MBA, or take the popular option of joining the workforce for a few years, then returning for your MBA. In the long run, this should pay lifelong dividends that exceed the value of a “don’t pass Go” BBA.

Also, if you do decide to do the BBA, consider a concentration in Finance instead of Economics. It has more pragmatic applications in the job market, and it sounds like pragmatic is something you are aiming for.
