I have just been accepted as a transfer at Conn. Can anyone speak to what the transfer experience is like?
Also some concerns:
- prepiness factor-- is it really bad? trying to avoid a really preppy school
- is the skewed boy-girl ratio noticeable?
- what are weekends and nightlife like? can it get boring?

It’s preppy, but not awfully so. There’s definitely a mix of styles. The skewed gender ratio is definitely noticeable; there are always more girls in my classes (but I’m into social science and humanities, so maybe that’s why). It’s really never boring here. The Student Activities Committee (SAC) is always planning events, and the ~80 clubs on campus also host events to keep everyone entertained and busy. As for nightlife, camels tend to drink a lot. There are always parties to go to on Thursday or Saturday nights. Lately the upperclassmen have been going to the nearby pubs for a new scene, though. Lastly, I know a transfer from Swarthmore and another from Cornell, and they both seem happy with their decision.
