Anywhere I can find these stats, or does someone happen to know the averages? I’m fine with a campus average, but I’m specifically applying as an Economics major, so I’m assuming it’ll be a little more competitive.
Bump
@BillShakespeare : Why would that be more competitive? Emory does not admit by major (and econ. is not a major with super elite students/is not a super high reputation major or anything. Most of the econ. folks double major) as long as you aren’t trying to get into the business or nursing school. And no, they do not publish transfer information so not many will be able to help you with that.
I assumed it would be competitive because every other college I’m applying to has major ranges for Economics starting at 4.0. Though Emory’s dedicated business school probably does make it a different case like you said.
@BillShakespeare: Other schools list stats for transfers by major? Private schools giving all that detail? Or public. Also, if the range “starts at 4.0” that basically says that they do not want to accept any students with that major. Maybe they are saturated with them, but Emory really doesn’t care. The only reason it gives a hard time to b-school and nursing is because it likely worries about credit/course equivalency and thus whether or not transfer students choosing said tracks will complete the degree on time. This basically means they would be reluctant to admit someone entering as a junior if they were interested in one of those programs.
@bernie12 Only the public schools seem to list by major, while private schools give one average or have a vague recommended GPA. Here’s UCLA’s stats: http://www.admission.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof14_mjr.htm
Also, what you say about the b school and nursing program makes sense as I explicitly remember reading on Emory’s transfer page that they don’t recommend Goizueta for transfers due to the fact that they’d probably need an additional year to complete it.
