Transfer GPA Question

Is it true that the gpa from your community college does not transfer over to the school you transfer to? If this is true, then isn't it difficult to maintain a good GPA in a tougher school with upper division courses? I am especially concerned about this because I am an electrical engineering major and have heard a great deal about the rigor of junior/senior level classes.

Also, when would your community college GPA be important again? Is this counted during grad school admissions or when you apply for a job?

Uh, I suggest you look at this another way. Think about it, you’re a transfer student from a community college. You obviously are very dedicated to entering a UC and completing all requirements needed to graduate. Do you really think you lack the motivation to get a 3.5-4.0 in all of your classes at the UC? If you don’t mess around and stay focused for a couple of years (which is basically what you did and are still doing at the community college hopefully), you’ll be fine.

Also, it’s not wise to let other people’s opinions about classes affect you. You should always go into a class wanting to ace it, whether its hard or not. If you have trouble in a class, just butt-buddy the teacher and you’ll get through it.

Can’t answer last 2 questions, sorry. :(

no it doesn’t carry over, but yes it’s counted in grad school admissions. And probably for your first job after graduation…
