Hello! I’m an international student. I want to start my studies in a community college because I want to raise my Venezuelan gpa, I did horribly in math because teachers were constantly missing and classes stopped because of manifestations and barricades. Right now I have a gpa of 3.2, although I made the honor roll in various subjects. I believe community college is the cheapest, easiest and fastest way to transfer into a top uni. My ACT is 31 composite on first and only sitting, I believe I can pull it up. I am also currently on a gap year and interned in NYC with a well known opera production company and have very strong connections in NYC that can give me internships while I am in community college.
I wanted to ask you which community college in the NY area is the best if my focus is to transfer to Columbia, NYU, Stanford or any Ivy basically. I don’t think that throwing 50k into a uni that isn’t first tier is a waste.
I have a sponsor that will cover my costs so that isn’t an issue. I also live in Midtown Manhattan so commuting from there should also be considered as a lot of the community colleges I’ve checked are a bit far (which is fine really but if they are going to give me the same opportunities I rather go to a 20mnts away one than an 1 hour away one). Thank you!
It has been a bit complicated to define which college has the best transfer agreements as they do seem to have one with NYU at least but it is only to their education program.
Have you looked at Borough of Manhattan CC? I know next to nothing about it, other than its location.
