Transfer help for colleges in California

I originally thought that I wanted to transfer to USC but I've decided that it may be too big for me. I am considering Claremont McKenna. Does anyone know anything about transferring there?

I posted this in the mckenna thread and got no response. I need help.

I want to transfer to CMC for International Relations or Government.
I currently go to Carnegie Mellon.
This semester I had a 4.0

76142 A FR SM EXP AFR AM VCE 9.00 A

I also write for the newspaper.

In high school I had a 3.6 unweighted gpa and a 1320 on the SATs.
I also took the SAT IIs and got a 720 writing, 660 Math Ic, and 650 Literature.
I was the captain of the debate team, involved in community service, and business manager of the newspaper.

I have a good reason to transfer, but do I have a chance?
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

anyone????

I think your in pretty good shape, however besides cmc itself you might want to check in pitzer, pomona, etc all the other claremont colleges. In fact apply to all of them, your still in their system. But I was just curious why did you want to transfer from Carnegie Mellon because I was thinking of applying. I'm a ccc, so I was wondering how are there programs, especially their ir/is/gov. major courses, since your taking them? Also you might want to talk to an advisor about taking the sat's over again, it depends for each college, but I'd look into that.

Let me start off by saying that the IS (information systems) program is very good. It is probably the only major in the Humanities school that should not be completely redone. It is, however, a very structured program with little class choice. With that said, it is my opinion that the school has been very unimpressive in humanities majors. The classes are big, they are taught by sub-par faculty and there are five, yes five, required FRESHMEN year courses. The administration is not any better. Registration is a nightmare and of course, freshmen get last pick. IR is not its own major, it is only offered as a double right now, and it is a joke. There are very few government classes, and actually, there are very few humanities choices overall. I came to the school on the strength of its creative writing program and even that has been a disappointment. Apply to Carnegie if you want to do Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or the Arts. Stay away from humanities, the science school is just okay.

I want to apply to Pitzer in addition to CMC, and I think Pomona would be too much of a reach. If I want to do IR or Government, CMC is stronger anyway. Psychology is an option an Pitzer, but for English at Pomona I just think that I have no chance. What do you think? Should I retake the SATs if I can or would that not even matter?

Claremont schools: in total about same size of CMU, Nice weather, in foothills with nice views. All schools pretty well thought of. S accepted to HM for engineering but thought HM too small community. Claremont may be just right for you and would be believe that Claramont schools would compare favorably with CMU. Its worth a shot. BTW, why not try other classes at PITT or the girls' schools?

Just wondering, but why do you want to leave Carnegie Mellon, that is a incredable school.

haha. not for the humanities. and its depressing to be at a school where no one really wants to be. there is no pride or school spirit.
