Transfer help!

Can anyone explain me what does COLLEGE TRNS FINAL GRADES mean? If they are final grades, I have to wait up to mid-May to get these. So how can my application be processed before that? I really want the notification before May.
Btw, I am a transfer student and still in Step 2 :(

I’m in the same boat, except I just moved to step 3 this morning. Basically, you need to send in a final transcript sometime in May when Spring grades are in. Also, if you don’t have 24 COMPLETED hours, then most likely you’ll be on hold until they get your final transcript (from what I heard).

Unless you have 24 completed hours at time of transfer application, you will be rejected with the option to send in your final transcript from spring '11 semester for reconsideration. You will not hear until mid June at best in this case. They also have to be the “right” 24 credit hours for the college you wish to transfer into.

Ok I am trying to apply for the scholarships in TAMU (i’m an OOS) so if the announcement is in mid-June, is it impossible to get any scholarships! That’s what I’m worried about

you have to be accepted to apply for scholarships and if you do not have the required hours to be accepted as a transfere now, then probably not going to get them for fall. Once you get accepted into your college - there will be scholarships to apply for starting in November. My daughters boyfriend wasnt notified until early July about his transfer acceptance. He applied for transfer with 23 credit hours - 1 hour short - so he had to submit his spring transcript.
Its tough, but it is the rules for transfer.
Are you sure now you have the “right” credits for transfer? Have you checked them out?

Klparker - thank you for providing so much insight into this process.
Do you know how firm the “right credit” transfer requirement is? My daughter has plenty of hours to be considered (37) but only completed one of the science requirements for 4 credits. Otherwise she is in good shape with most of the other credits.

CSMom2011 here is the information for the degree tracks. It is right off the requirements to transfer on Admissions A&M web site.
[Degree Tracks](http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer/gettingin/degreeTracks/detail.aspx)
It depends on what college your daughter is transfering into as to what is required. Some are very specific as to what they want. Most BA degree tracks only require 4 science credits to transfer. But most BS degree tracks do require 8 science credits to transfer, so it really matters to which major your daughter wants to transfer into.
Good Luck.

Here is a link to the 2010 transfer guide
http://admissions.tamu.edu/files/pubs/Transfer_Guide_09_10.pdf

For some reason I still feel don’t feel like I fully understand what they are saying when I look at the degree tracks - I suppose the take away is the statement “An applicant should complete as many courses as possible in Table 1 of the Degree Track for their desired major”. Daughter is applying to Liberal Arts so 4 credit hours of science is fine.

I’m not sure how track 2 figures into the whole thing though. Most of her hours seem to fit into the track 2 credits.

Her app is on step 4 so maybe I should stop trying to understand and just wait it out!

she should be fine with a transfer to the College of Liberal Arts. That is probably one of the easier colleges to transfer into.
Some of the colleges are very specific to what you have to have to even be considered to transfer in - some are not so tough.
Best of luck to your daughter. And to you!

Thanks Klparker 312, Surely I checked the Degree track only to find I didn’t enough “right” 24 transferable hours which mean I have to wait until mid-July as your daughter bf did. I’m an OOS and hoping to get an OOS waiver to afford the college. I also apply TexasTech too, so what do you think? Maybe I can go to TTU for the fall while applying for the scholarship (in case I accepted in July). Gosh, so complicated though!

Tam3010. I have no idea about Tech and their admissions… Only thing I can say about Tech is yuck!
If I were you, I would call admissions about that oos scholarship waiver. I’d hate for you to go to tech, though it is much cheaper.
