Transfer Help

I'm applying as a transfer student for the fall of 2008. I was recently on the College Board website, and found that the transfer rate for Mac in 2007 was around 17%. This number was a little discouraging, and sort of propelled me to post on this site and find out what transfer admissions is like at a liberal arts college like Mac.
I am currently a freshman at the University of Maryland. In high school, I had a 3.67 GPA (weighted) and took a rigorous course load (7 AP's, three honors); my SAT's were 700 W, 710 CR, and 620 M. My extracurriculars are varied--volunteer basketball coach, NHS member, varsity soccer, participant in local Judaic studies program, co-founded the Maryland Music Business Society, etc etc. My GPA after one semester at Maryland is 3.75
I am nervous about applying after seeing such a low transfer admissions rate, especially because I see myself as below the Macalester "standard." I think my essays and recs will be good, but I'm not sure if they'll be enough to compensate. Aside from visiting the school, is there anything else I should do to distinguish myself??? At this point, I'm not really sure what my chances are, but I'd appreciate any advice.
