Transfer Housing at Berkeley

I havent seen this thread started this year so i need to ask, where should a transfer student to Berkeley live?

I know there is a res hall for transfers, but it does seem expensive and I dont know if the meal plan is worth it.

I have some friends that have been the since their freshmen year that are looking for apartments way off campus. I dont want to miss out on the illustrious "college experience" by being so far from campus.

So if anyone wants to share where they are living and why, please post here.

When I transferred, I lived in an apartment with some older people. It was alright. If you want more of a social life, try the co-ops. You have to keep an open mind and they can be a younger crowd, but it’s room and board and averages about $700ish a month. Really depends what type of person you are.

You should keep in mind that you are guaranteed a space in the Residence Halls/Apartments as long as you apply on time. JR Transfer apps are Due June 6th. So if you cannot find a place to live or want to experience “Dorm Life” you can have that as an option.
