Hi I am transfering from a community college to a new university this upcoming fall and was wondering whether its better for a sophmore transfer to live in the dorms or get an apartment. I am a very social person, and was just wonering what is more popular in most cases. Any input is appreciated , thanks

Anyone have any opinions?

In general, I’d say that as a transfer it helps to live on campus to meet new people more easily. This varies somewhat with the school, is your new school one where many kids stay on campus all 4 years, or do they usually move off campus after a year or two in the dorms? Also, when you say you’re a soph transfer, do you mean you’re a soph now (will start your new school as a jr) or will you be a soph when you transfer? If you’re going to be a soph in your new school, then there are likely still going to be many students your age that live on campus and that is likely your best opportunity to get to know people.

Thanks for the input…umm I am most likely going to transfer to Texas Tech…i am not sure what percentage of students live on campus…but yes i will be a sophmore at texas tech…so in your opinion it would be a good idea to live in a dorm??

Trust me, live in the dorm. I’m transferring next semester (as a junior) and am aiming to live on campus. At my current school I live off campus and really don’t like it… It’s not social at all. I visited the dorms at the school I’ll be attending and everyone there is pretty close… Plus there’s the convenience of always being within walking distance of everything.
