Transfer inquiry

Hello
I guess 'cause I'm an international student I don't really understand the different transferring processes in US so I really appreciate it if someone has any experiences about the universities I'm trying to transfer to now.
I've just finished 1 semester here at my current university and I only took 4 classes last semester with one of them being ESL.
I'm trying to transfer to
University of Illinois Urbana Champaign
New York University
University of Michigan Ann Arbor
University of California Berkeley
University of Illinois Urbana Champaign
University of Southern California
University of Wisconsin Madison
University of Southern California
University of Pennsylvania

I've been trying like crazy to fulfill all the requirements for the prerequisites (choosing courses for next semester and courses that can be transferred...blah blah blah..) when one day I called UMich about the equivalent courses and they said I need to get to the University of Michigan first (requires no prerequisites) and apply for College of Business later.. Then I called again and a lady said I need to have the prerequisites. I'm so confused

My point is apparently there're 2 types of transfer admission.
The first one is admit you to the University first and then to the School of your choice later
The second one is you need to have all the prerequisites and choose your college of choice right away

I called and figured out that UW-Madison use the first type of transfer admission. UIUC, however uses the first type. (but I'm not very sure)

The rest of them I'm not sure and I tried to call but all they said were very confusing..

Maybe I am wrong somehow so please correct me..
I really really appreciate any input. I need a clarification on this.

I always try to learn more about all these transfer process

Actually I was admitted to UIUC to the School of Business for Fall 2009 but I chose my current school, which was a mistake. But what has been done is done

I got a SAT of 2040, Toefl iBT of 101 in 2008. I got almost 100% on every test I took in the Fall classes (I got 100% score on Basic Cal) and I was ranked 1st in classes too..

If you think I can't get in any one of those university I listed, please tell me too. I'm not very sure how competitive they are.. Please let me know what you think I should know about the transfer process..

Thank you guys very much for this..

Nga

Try the general transfer forum, this is the UC(University of California) transfer forum.

Sorry I was mistaken… How am I supposed to move the thread?

copying and pasting it should do

well she does have UC berkeley on her list

Thanks…Now I know how to move the thread…^^

I’m an intl. studying at Berkeley. I’m not very sure about this but I think the college declaration depends on your year of transfer. If you’re a junior transfer then you’ll have to declare college, if sophomore you won’t. Because here at Berkeley you need to declare your major by the end of your sophomore year, which means you’re ‘set’ on a college by your junior year.
