I was admitted yesterday and I'm trying to find out if it would be possible to get housing with some friends that are already students at RU. If anyone knows who specifically I should contact for this that would be great. I went to their housing website and there's a whole lot of different contacts.

I’m a Rutgers student. We got our lottery numbers a few weeks ago and started picking housing this week. I would specifically contact your friends, first, and see when they’re picking housing. I’d then just call housing. There are lots of different contacts? Just call one. They’ll forward you to the right person. Rutgers is pretty good with that, despite the “RU Screw” gripes. I had a question about my scholarship, and after waiting on the line for a few minutes with a lower level person, I was transferred to the dept. head. So just call tomorrow morning, asap.

I called
About this a while ago they told me if you have friends who are rutgers students the CAN NOT pull you in…that’s why if I get in we are going off campus

I talked to Rutgers housing and they said I could get housing than after two weeks I could room swap into my friends suite.

The transfer application has a spot on it for who you want to room with. What would happen if you put down someone who already attends Rutgers?

Are transfers guaranteed housing ? If you get accepted now, and submit and pay your deposit for housing do you have a better chance than transfers admitted later on?

If you put down someone who already attends Rutgers they wouldn’t be able to put you with them. I don’t think that Rutgers guarantees housing, but it’s first come, first serve so if you apply early than you will have a better chance.

I’m still not sure whether I should live on campus or off campus. I’ve heard off campus is bit cheaper? Any of you guys know?

nic- here is the off-campus housing link on the Rutgers website [Rutgers University Off-Campus Housing Service](<a href=“Off-Campus Living and Community Partnerships – Rutgers University | Division of Student Affairs – New Brunswick”>Off-Campus Living and Community Partnerships – Rutgers University | Division of Student Affairs – New Brunswick)

Here is the link to last year’s on-campus housing rates
[Rates & Billing - Get Housing - My Housing - Rutgers Housing & Residence Life](http://ruoncampus.rutgers.edu/my-housing/get-housing/rates-and-billing)

You will have to compare prices, which will vary widely off-campus.

Remember that all off-campus housing situations may not include utilities in the price, or local parking, so you must budget for that as well.

Rutgers housing isn’t great, but you are closer to your classes and you don’t have to deal with a landlord. Some landlords are good, and some…are not. Spend some time during spring break visiting some of the off-campus housing; you may be pleasantly surprised or disappointed. It’s a big mix.

yes Im planning to visit some off campus housing next week and see what happens.

Thanks, Rualum

For past 2 months my friends and I visited around 10 places…we finally chose one signing this week…I’m living there anyway hopefully hear back from rutgers soon…nice house 5 single bedroom with 4 people it’s 750 a month way cheaper than on campus
