Transfer living

I know there has been post like this before, but there never seems to be any real good answers. I was hoping that someone could help me out.

Basically I am going to be a transfer student (Junior Status) at UCSB. I will be 20 years old when I go there in the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. I am looking for an experience somewhat similar to the "freshmen experience", and I am not sure which residence halls I should look to move into. I've heard about San Rafael, and Manzanita Village for transfer students. I am just afraid that they wont be as fun as some of the other dorms. I know we go to school to learn, etc. But I am also looking to meet great friends and build great memories and honestly, I want to party too.

I guess my questions are:
1. Are San Rafael/Manzanita social, fun dorms?
2. Is there situations where transfers live in the same dorms as the incoming freshmen? Is it weird to do so?
3. If I plan on joining a fraternity, or many clubs (which I do), will it even matter which dorms I live in?

Any advice would be great!

I dont go there yet but most of my friends that have have reccomended manzanita which is where i will prob be living

I filled out the preference form and from what I saw, you can only pick San Raf or Manzanita anyway.

There’s a transfer floor in San Raf, etc.

Bump! I want to know too.

What’s better San Rafael or Manzanita, or even one of those apartments for getting to know a lot of people?

I"m a transfer student as well. If I go, I will not know anyone. How does the housing work for transfers?

I figured out the answer to #2 if anyone is curious…

Transfer students can only choose between San Rafael, or Manzanita Village. All of the other dorms are for freshmen and continuing sophomore students. Although this is true, Manzanita does house freshman as well. San Rafael is primarily for non-freshman students.
