Where to live? (transfer)

Hey guys, I might transfer to SB (I got accepted--just waiting for LA lol) and I was wondering where I should live. I know there are other dorm threads but I feel like those are created by freshmen.

I'm an Asian female and, not that it matters that much, but I would prefer not being around too many Asian people. I kind of want to meet different people, if that makes sense lol

I'm an English major

I don't party but I wouldn't mind living a little lol

I do want to have a college experience since I missed out on that, so nothing isolated and somewhere where I could meet people easily?

I would prefer living with upperclassmen

So yeah :D Any help would be great, guys. I've heard I should live in the halls and that San Rafael and Manzanita (?) are good but not too sure D:

I’d really recommend going into the residence halls, either here or UCLA. You’ll quickly meet some fellow students, the dorms will have organized activities, and its helpful (if you’re not used to living by yourself) to start off with someone else doing the cooking. Apartment living is more spacious but more isolated; you just don’t run into most of your neighbors that often except for the immediately adjacent ones. And in the dorms you have an RA and fellow students that can be of help in getting adjusted.

Thanks! The residence halls are probably what I’m looking for. Any recommendations on which ones to try for?

I am also a transfer student and would like to know. Which hall is better for meeting other people and having a great “first year” TRANSFER experience? Is San Rafael social? What about the transfer living for Manzanita? =)

Transfers should pick San Rafael or Manzanita. Manzanita is bigger and nicer (beach view), but it’s a bit isolated. San Rafael is more social, especially since the suites and living rooms. San Rafael is also a bit quiet. They’re not going to be as wild as the freshmen dorms, but they’re good enough for us older folk I think.

As of now, IDK which dorm to pick. I’m afraid of being stuck in a suite of 6 people in San Raf and only having one bathroom available. So, I’m probably going to go with Manzanita. I like that the rooms are bigger and I don’t have to worry about the bathrooms being TOO crowded.
