Transfer (Neuroscience)

Hello :) I'm a freshman at University of Michigan (not the Ann Arbor campus) and I want to transfer because I want to major in Neuroscience, and my school does not offer the program. I have applied to Ann Arbor for Fall 2010, as I get in-state tuition- but I want to apply to other schools as well.

My HS stats aren't good at all- 2.7 GPA IB certificates, 1770 SAT score

My GPA for my first semester at UMich is 3.83, and I plan to keep that up. By the end of spring, I will have completed 36 credits.

I'm a member of Amnesty International, and despite my GPA I had glowing recommendations from my English teachers in high school. I'm sure my current English professor will write me a great recommendation as well, and I've written good essays. I have a knack for writing- I may even minor in it. I've also lived abroad for six years in Pakistan and the Middle East.

Could you guys recommend good schools in Neuroscience that I may have a shot at? I've heard JHU and Brown are amazing, but they're reaches for me.

Thanks :)

I don’t think those english teacher/professor recommendations are going to resonate for someone going into the final two years of a science-intensive program.

How does your science and math college transcipt look like – both in the number and depth of the courses you’ve taken, and your grades? Without this information it isn’t possible to answer your question.

Well, I’m applying for sophomore admission so I’ve only had one semester so far… Organismal Biology, I got an A-. I’m taking Human Anatomy & Physiology and Psychology this semester and I’m doing well in both. I’m starting math in Spring. Its not much, but I started out as an English major. I only just decided that I want to do neuroscience.
