I studied ballet pre-professionally at a conservatory arts high school and after taking a year off, I would really love to continue with it. I did not account for this when applying for colleges this year. Wake Forest is one of my top choices, here and Dickinson College. Super scored my ACT would be about a 30; Math: 27 English: 32 Science: 28 and after I retake I project my reading to be 32. Also, I scored a 700 on the Literature Subject Test. My GPA is weighed down by B’s in ballet courses, I have a 4.1 weighted and a 3.6 unweighted. My only grades below 90 are 2 math courses (85 and 88) and an 89 in a science course my freshman year. I have taken 7 AP courses and my extracurriculars are very good.
Should I take a gap year with AmeriCorps and apply ED next year? Or would my chances still be similar applying as a transfer for Fall or Spring 2018? Right now, I would prefer to attend UNC-Wilmington in the fall and then transfer. I love school and just would like to start college. However, being admitted to a school where I can continue dancing is most important to me. Also, I was a QuestBridge Prep Scholar so Financial Aid is critical for me at a private school.
