Transfer! please help me!!

I am freshman currently attending Syracuse University.
I am getting $6000 per yr scholarship.
My SAT score = 1820.
H.S. GPA = 4.4/5.0.
I had a lot of H.S. activities. (a lot of varsity sports teams).

My current, first Semester GPA = 3.0

If I can pull my GPA up to 3.5, do you think it is possible for me to transfer to NYU? (Engineering)?
How about Cornell University?

raise sat and gpa

Transfer for junior standing because you practically stand no chance as a sophomore transfer......though I'm not suggesting you not apply at all. Give it a shot.

NYU doesn't have engineering, just fyi. They instead team up with Stevens, and its a 5-year BS in science/engineering.
Why are you leaving Syracuse? If you have a 3.0 in engineering from Syracuse, you're doing pretty well. Obviously I'm not one to talk, i'm at a #17 institution and trying to leave as well, so I feel your posistion.
I'm not going to say your GPA is too low. I know how difficult engineering is, i'm trying to transfer with a 3.1 (3.2 in my major classes though). And i don't know your breakdown of your SAT (try posting M/CR/W). And your HS GPA is a 3.52 on a 4.0 scale, which is a B+ which is good.
So, NYU you have a shot. Not a match, but not a reach.
Cornell i'm not so sure, but still apply
good luck! =) I know how tough it is for someone to say "a 3.0 is too low" when a 3.0 is pretty much the norm of your peers.

how did new york from flavor of love go to syracuse, shes so stupid...lol

hey to the OP is it true that her mom is a professor there!?

I hear life at Stevens is pretty miserable. Meh...who knows.

I have a quick question to the engineering majors then, when you say you have a 3.0 and that's a realtively high or normal GPA, what classes are you taking?

I'm wondering because my friend who's at UMich engineering is freaking out about her 3.0 GPA, while another who's also in UMich engineering has a 4.0 but is taking different classes...

O_o

Well, there are some with almost 4.0 here (Virginia Tech) but they're taking either Freshman english (eeassssyyyy A) or calcI (can't say it's an easy A, but it's still easier than other classes)
Some people start off at lower math levels, and that makes a huge difference. Also, some people enter with AP/IB credit and can test out of history/english classes or beginning level programming classes which can be huge GPA boosters.
