Im a current freshman at a 'no-name university' in NYC. This month is just my 2nd semester there. Im wanting to transfer to NYU's Stern school of business. Here are my credentials:

H.S. GPA 3.0
Current College GPA 3.7
ACT 22

Im Vice President of a club in college
Im Treasurer of another club in college
Im also a member of a community outreach program in NYC

Do you think I have a chance to get in? Or should I wait until Im finished with soph yeah with more emphasis on that, as opposed to my HS grades, and transfer in as a junior? Thanks for the help guys!

i'm basically in the same boat...terrible high school grades and doing very well in college. i too eaither want to go to Stern or to Cornell. i would definitely wait until junior year to transfer. this way, our horrible high school performances will be overshadowed by great college grades. if you apply now, you will almost positively be rejected, since Stern is incredibly hard to transfer into in the first place if you have a good high school resume. your best shot would be for junior transfer. good luck and keep me posted

yankee....i would advise the same....what about SAT's?? we do know that as a junior cornell doesnt require SATs, right? btw, does anyone care to share personal statements or transfer essays for editing?

thats not true. you only dont have to send cornell SAT scores if you have never taken the test before. you still have to send them if you are a junior transfer.

Thank you guys for the replies. I think Im going to try and apply anyways, what could it hurt. If I am rejected, Ill try again as a junior. Yes, NYU requires standardized test scores if you've taken them. Ive only taken the ACT, and they wont accept scores achieved while in college either. I was going to re-take the test to score higher.

Ok, so say its now my time to apply to NYU for my junior year. My credentials are the same except my gpa is a 3.9, along with internships, jobs, and other clubs. Would I have a chance then?

Wonderful! Im currently enrolled in Pace University in Lower Manhattan. Im wanting a school with name recognition, and is known better in business.
