I'm currently a freshman right now and plan on transferring into UT for the fall 2011 year. I was wondering if they are going to look at my GPA for only the fall semester or both the fall and spring semester? I know the deadline for transfer apps is 3/1 so I'm assuming they only look at the fall GPA. Can someone clarify this for me? Also, how difficult is it to get into the College of Communications as an advertising major or the College of Liberal Arts? I'm kind of worried because I didn't do as well as I hoped this first semester.

Do you already have 30 hours right now? I am assuming you don’t. But to answer your question, they will look at your grades for both semester. You have to send your updated transcript when you finish your spring semester. You won’t get your decision until around late May or early June. And I am not sure about the GPA for Communications, but to get into Liberal Arts, you would need around 3.5 GPA.

They’ll stash away any documents you send them until you send them a transcript with proof of 30 or more transferable credits. Like top said, if you don’t have 30 hours by start of spring semester, you’ll have to wait when grades come in and then send them. Do complete your app. & essays and everything else in time. Another thing…the most important thing for transfer students is GPA, not SAT/ACT score & then extra cir. & recs. Good luk
