Transfer Question

I'm currently a Freshman. My question is, if I apply to enroll as a sophomore, to what extent do my freshman grades have an impact on my chances ?

I'm an International student with not the best SAT Scores of [ 1740 ] but with a 3.53 GPA at a top private International school in Saudi Arabia. I went to a college, or more like was forced to go to that college [AIC] because it was more affordable for me than the school I really want to go to [ UMiami] .

I knew that life doesn't stop here, so I worked [ and still working ] hard to achieve high grades in my first year so that I'd transfer to a better school. I really dont ''want'' to transfer as much as I ''need'' to transfer. I can't stand being here at Springfield,MA and at that college anymore. So, I got a 3.86 GPA in my first semester as an Econ. major, and will hopefully keep that up through next semester. My application [ essays, recs, grades] is close to perfect, except for the SATs. That's my application's 'only' weak point. Also note that I will be sending the 3.86 to the schools I plan on attending as a sophomore.

Will a 3.86 [ along with good ec] help me enough to get into schools I dream of?

Schools like : Tufts, Brandeis, Clark, and Occidental

They will definitely weigh your college GPA a lot. You should have at least 30 credits before transferring.

Hey bottlecap1990, Thanks!

I should be having at least 32 by the end of this year.
