Transfer Question

Hello everyone,

I am currently a freshman at a terribly small - and relatively unknown - four-year university, and would like to transfer. This is not a very rare event, I imagine.

My problem is this: as I am just in my third week of school, how do I approach my instructors and advisor to ask them to fill out the required application paperwork? To be blunt, these people literally have no idea who I am.

Considering the fact that any one of my high school instructors would write a glowing recommendation, I feel cheated knowing that these individuals will be providing such an important part to my application.

Has anyone else ever been in a similar situation? Share your insight. Please and thank you!

Did you have any discussion of your problems with your advisor?
Transferring may not be the best solution to your problems.

Do you plan on not finishing out the semester there? At the 3rd week you are probably on the hook for that tuition and would be looking W’s on a transcript if you decided to bail now. Could you look into making the jump for the coming semester?

I would be finishing out this year.

Most deadlines aren’t until late winter/early spring, so you wait and ask for LORs after you finish fall semester. If you are applying to a rolling school, it is difficult to get a good LOR AND apply early.
