Hi everyone.

I am a freshman currently enrolled in a 4-year college hoping to transfer to a better 4-year institution as a sophomore. I have already started my applications (using the Common App) and got 2 different letters of rec from professors I had last quarter. I am a little lost on the other things I have to do in the transfer process and I was hoping that some of you could help me organize this.

Alright. This is what I know I need but have no idea WHEN or HOW I should go about doing:
Sending my high school transcripts
Sending my college transcripts
Midterm Report (I am in a quarter-system school, winter quarter ends March 15, around my first deadline)
Secondary School Report
College Official's Report

I know the forms for most of these are on the CA. I guess my main questions are 1. Who do I go to with these forms/transcripts requests? and 2. When is a good time to do so? (not too early but not too late)

Thanks again!

I started a semester(during second quarter preparing my applications) but better now then February.
First thing you need to do is get your high school transcripts and secondary report sent to your high school to be filled out. Then you should ask for recc from teachers if you need them so it can be out in time. Then go to the Deans office to request to fill out your Officials report. To send your college transcript go to your registrar’s office to request a transcript to be sent to the schools you intend on applying to.

Thanks a lot. What about my midterm report? is that for my spring quarter?

i think so since winter quarter is about to past but you should check with the admissions counselor

what is the college officials and secondary school report? I’m also transferring for the fall and I’ve done some of these things already.

college officials report is to let the other school know your academic standing similar to what your guidance counselor filled out in high school which is what the secondary report is.

Thank you, I understand, but do all colleges need you to send that?

You have to check with the admission requirements for each school you are applying to. Most of the require it unless your are a junior transfer
