Transfer Question

Situation: As a result of family complications right before my first semester of college at Radford University (Fall 2013), I stopped attending my classes mid semester and subsequently failed all but one of them. I was put on academic suspension for the Spring 2014 semester. While I was able to go back in the summer semester, I chose not to. While I was on suspension I enrolled at community college at home and chose to continue there. This last last semester my term GPA was 3.23 and my cumulative GPA was 2.73. I am in the process of applying to Mason in the fall as a transfer student (Integrative International Studies Major) at which point I will have my Associate’s Degree and over 60 credits.

Question: Considering this, to what extent do you think my academic suspension will affect my chances of acceptance to Mason in the fall?

Hi, how are you doing? First, I’m a student from one of the Virginia Community College. I can’t really say anything, but I can tell you this. I called GMU couple days ago to ask them about my application. I also ask them about GPA and other stuff. They told me that the minimum GPA that they will take into consideration is 2.85 (for transfer student) but on their website they said 3.0 is the minimum. However, they also told me that the 50% chance (average GPA) for transfer student last year was 3.2, so I think you’re in the border line. Don’t worry about it too much, just apply and see what happen.
