Transfer questions

I am currently a student at Madonna University in MI. Some less than ideal changes are taking place in my program in the next year and I am looking to transfer.I am curious as to whether or not I would qualify for Northwestern University?

It seems like you’re a good, involved student, which are qualities NU seems to look for. However, the transfer application deadline has already passed (it was on March 15th), and transfer students are required to spend at least 6 quarters (two full academic years) at Northwestern, so if you were to apply next year (the earlies you could now apply, during what I take to be your junior year), you would need to apply to be a junior two years from now and spend a total of five years in college. This may be the case at other universities too, though I honestly have no idea and that is just a guess.

I am also not totally sure that current juniors can apply to be juniors at NU the next year, so I would recommend calling the admissions office to figure things out.

If the admissions office gives you a green light, I say go for it! You seem like a qualified applicant, though of course you won’t be a shoe-in because of the large pool of other qualified applicants and the low transfer acceptance rate.

You’ll find the admissions phone number in the purple bottom banner at this link: http://admissions.northwestern.edu/apply/transfer.html

Thank you so much for the info. I just now achieved Sophomore status. I am looking into transferring in the Fall 2017 semester.

Okay, good luck then. Because you just got to sophomore status, I think it would be helpful to contact the admissions office to figure out what your status would be at Northwestern if you apply and get in.

BTW, Northwestern has quarters, not semesters.

Best of luck!
