Hello,
I am currently a sophomore at a private university studying physics. I am in my school’s dual degree program, meaning that I will study physics for three years here and then transfer to an engineering school for two years after that. I, however, am hoping to transfer into McCormick next year (my junior year). I can give my stats if necessary, but I’m just wondering how my chances are of getting in being that I am a sophomore. Any help is appreciated.
Sophomore year is the best time to transfer into NU for sure. There’s also a strong support system for incoming students.
do you mean sophomore year or after sophomore year? Because I’d be transferring as a junior.
Hey man! I’m a transfer candidate for Winter 2016. I don’t think it is necessarily detrimental for you to be transferring in as a junior - Northwestern’s rule is that you have to spend ~2 years on their campus so you should be fine.
We’ll see how my process goes, I’ll try to keep you updated!
Best of luck.
Here’s a source for @Caintpau 's statement that you only need to spend two years on campus: http://www.registrar.northwestern.edu/graduation/undergraduate-registration-requirement.html
So its possible. However, it may be difficult for you to fit all the McCormick requirements into two years, unless you already have already taken a fair amount of non-STEM classes (or AP classes in high school) with a unifying theme or some engineering classes. Just something to keep in mind / figure out / plan.
