Transfer Recommendation Letters

Hey everyone,

Brown allows you to send up to 4 recommendation letters, but is that too many? I’m planning to apply for the interdisciplinary comp lit concentration, so I’m trying to get recommenders from many areas of interest.

My four recs are these

  1. My humanities professor (I've taken 3 classes with her, all As) whose class basically inspired me to do comp lit.
  2. My favorite poli sci professor who I've taken 2 classes with, one of which was a 4000 level course my freshman year.
  3. My project director from the non-profit I worked with in Mexico last summer. She can speak to my language abilities and leadership skills.
  4. My undergraduate research professor with whom I've studied Kenyan languages all year. Research already looks good but I'd like him to speak to my open mindedness and explorative learning style.

Is this too much? Will the Adcoms be overwhelmed?

I’d skip the project director, since she didn’t work with you in an academic context. Brown will see your leadership skills through how you write about the project, and your language abilities don’t matter in terms of admissions. Three letters are sufficient.
