How many recommendation letters did you submit to Brown? 3 or 4?

Five, including my counselor’s. Just choose your recommendations wisely–will they all give a different perspective? Don’t pick four that will all say the same thing.

I don’t think that speech and debate counts as a “major subject”, so I was planning on submitting my debate teacher’s recommendation as my third one. The other two - I’m not sure yet. Is it a bad idea to submit teacher recommendations for your sophomore year?

IMO, you should probably wait until your junior year is over to decide which teachers to ask for recommendations. If, at that time, a teacher from your sophomore year feels like a good option, and you know you’d get a glowing rec from him/her, go for it. But over the next year you may have teachers that you feel you’ve connected to more.

You’re right, I should wait, I’m just trying to think of a plan.

If my debate teacher wrote a recommendation for me, would Brown count it as one from a major subject teacher or just an extra?

It’d probably be an extra. Don’t worry about planning now - you have plenty of time. Focus on enjoying your time in high school!

Okay, I’ll try to!

I’m sending four.
