I just received my admissions email to UC Santa Cruz this morning for Computer Science. Based on the requirements set forth at https://admissions.ucsc.edu/apply/transfer-students/major-prep.html#cs, I have some confusion. One of the requirements I failed last semester, but am retaking it now. If I get an A in that class do I get a 4.0 gpa for that class or will that hurt my gpa because I’m retaking it. There is one other failed class that was retaken also getting an A(calculus 2). How do I know what grades I need to get this semester. Given that I completed the (TAU)-grade update am I fine if I maintain 2.8 or greater gpa this semester? I don’t want to get denied if I accept when I should already know that I can’t get the proper gpa in the required classes.
If they admitted you knowing what your GPA already looked like then I don’t think you need to worry. If you go to a CCC i am fairly certain that only your best attempt at a class is placed in your GPA, so you can potentially bring up your GPA and get the ‘ghost’ of that class of your GPA. I was also admitted to UCSC, I believe they explicitly state what GPA they expect although I cannot recall it at the moment I expect it’s about 3.0? I would look in your packet if I were you.
If you’re still concerned, just call them and tell them your situation and they should be able to help you.
