I'm just curious around what gpa would i need to get accepted into syracuse as a transfer from a four year college. I will have completed 3 full semesters of college by the time i apply to syracuse and other universities

i transferred in after getting a 3.5 gpa my first semester this past year, excited for cuse in a few short weeks. pm me if u want to talk about specifics and transferring. its been a long yr of applications for me AGAIN after senior yr lol, but ill be coming to cuse as a sophomore this fall.

you know what my chances would be with a gpa bw a 2.9 and 3.2?

which college at syracuse?

You can get in… 2 of my friends and both transferred and one has a GPA of 2.7 and she got into the school of Human Ecology, the other had a 2.6 and got into Arts and Science.

how about the school of business? And wow i would never have thought that syracuse would take anyone with gpas that low

apatel, i transferred into the business school with a 3.54 gpa and was also shocked when i saw people with gpas that low (under 3.0) getting accepted. Im hoping its only because of the financial crisis, and that they have to accept more applicants to make sure they have enough students coming in each year, theyre competing with public schools offering much cheaper tuitions. theyve recently went from being ranked 53rd to 58th, and the acceptance rate is well over 50%. hopefully the school becomes more competitive to get in. this shouldnt be anyone’s safety school in the future I hope, but a first choice.

David B and cdiamond thanks for all the info it really helped me get an idea of what i would need to transfer. and David B lets hope they start getting competitive after fall '10 because i wanna get accepted first ;)

Also, GPA isn’t always everything… They look at the applicant as a whole, what can this person bring to the table. People forget about this so much when they are looking at schools you can have a 4.0 and thats it… or you can have a lower GPA with amazing potential… They look at why your grades are the way they are… People don’t realize that one or two classes can bring you down, but you can still have a lot to offer a school. We are more than our GPA’s… And to be successful and have successful students it often takes realizing that.

that is so true cp diamond

cp diamond… do you need a interview for them to judge you as a person rather than gpa? i feel like that is the only way unless you pour your life story out in a application essay

bumppp.

I want to transfer from Boston U to Syracuse for sophomore year. Everything isn’t as good as I thought it would be - this school has NO free amenities. I would be 20x more angry if I wasn’t getting a full ride, but being that I AM getting a full ride, I can’t spend so much money here and there for things that 75% of other schools with CHEAPER tuition and curricula that are just as good offer for free. Anyway, I want to go to Syracuse for the New House program. I got off to a rocky start here at BU because of the whole college transition (and was put into CGS even though I got into BC with a full ride in their normal program…but who is crying over that…me) and CGS is actually significantly more difficult than the other schools. But yea, I’m anticipating coming out of first semester with a 2.85 because of the pitfalls I’ve had to overcome. How good is 'Cuse on financial aid coverage (I would only go if they could offer the same package as BU as far as full ride goes…minus books)? How stringent are they on grades for transfer?
