Transfer shot at USC?

Just got first semester grades back from Gtown, 3.82 GPA.

A - Chem
A - Calc
A - Acting
A - Chem Lab
B+ - French

Was accepted to USC initially with scholarship but parents would not let me go. After a year of college, they said they would allow me to go if I got the grades to get back in. USC and California are my dream.

Do I have a transfer shot?

possibly but you need a good statement and recs from professors. EC’s will only help

What Gaucho said, but I think you have an excellent shot. The million dollar question though is whether you can get that scholarship back. Transfer students I believe are eligible for half-tuition scholarships which is a nice chunk of change although given what private schools charge now, there’s still a big gap in terms of absolute dollars.

Good luck!

You’ll get in for two raisons: first, you did well at a top 20 university; second, you got in as a frosh. You are one of the worthies, IMO.

With grades like that at gtown you’ve definitely got a great shot. but like USCAlum05 said, the problem is the scholarship.

Were you NMF? If so, you can call USC admissions and find out if the 1/2 tuition presidential for NMF is available to transfer students. The other scholarships are probably not available, but once you get to USC you can apply for scholarships for continuing students (which would apply from junior year on). Another source might be USC alumni clubs. Georgia Girl who posts here frequently would be the one to ask about those for transfer students.

^^^ By the way, excellent work first semester! And I’m curious why you are not happy to stay at Georgetown?

Gtown is great but USC was my first choice from the beginning but my parents did not want me to go accross country at 18. We struck a deal that if I did well enough to transfer and got in then I could go for Sophomore year.
