Hey everyone,

I just have been accepted to USC as a Marshall transfer. I've already completed my Calc courses, and want to know if I would have to retake calc at USC if I don't do well on the placement test. I've not taken math for a semester so I feel rusty on the subject...

My Oasis page says my math 118 requirement is complete. I called the orientation office and they told me that if I already took calc, that the results won't matter much unless I do horribly on the test. This is true, right?

Thanks!

@McGreans Hey, congrats on the acceptance! I am a recently accepted transfer to Marshall as well.

In the same position and just as worried, do you know if we have to do the chemistry one too?

Hopefully someone here has been through the same situation.

If you are not planning to take math at USC you do not have to take a math placement test. The test is meant to place you into the correct course, so if you have satisfied your degree program’s math requirement there is no need for a placement test - you aren’t being placed anywhere.

If there is an additional math course that you must take for your degree program then you must take the placement test. No way around it. Take it soon so that you do not get even rustier.
