transfer student, advice please

ok so here it goes.
in state, currently at community college with 27 credits, 2.8 gpa as of now, but plan on getting straight a's this semester, an elective business class messed up my gpa but i am making it up

cant list all my grades but Have A's in both english 1 and 2.

I am retaking my ACT's in a week, please tell me what I need to shoot for, even though I am working my rear end off studying, I would like to know what I need to get.

After this semester, FALL 2010, I will have around a 3.3/3.4. I am applying for spring 2011.

Please let me know what my ACT should look like to get in!! Thanks!

bump…somebody…

I really don’t think they’re going to consider your estimate for your Fall grades… You should probably just wait and apply for Summer or Fall 2011.

they already told me they would consider them

o.O Oh ok. But don’t they close their offices almost immediately after grades are posted?

I am a transfer for this semester, majoring in economics. I applied and graduated from my Community College with a GPA of 3.25. SAT score of 480 Reading, 520 Math, 380 Writing. My high school GPA was 2.97. I had 0 community service in college. Never taken the ACT.

If your academics are better than mine, you’ll have a good shot of getting in, of course, it depends on your major.

With an AA, they pay no attention to SAT/ACT scores, community service, etc. Without an SAT and transferring in with less than 60 hours, one must meet BOTH freshman criteria and transfer criteria. So the OP must meet stricter criteria for admission without an AA.

I have my application in for a week now… I finally got an update on my status it says under college transcript “Transcript received, not yet reviewed for completeness.” what does this mean???

that means they have received it and that it still needs to be reviewed . Could take a few weeks for that status to change so be patient.

OK. So what do I need to aim for on MY act’s?

I would put ACT as a low priority, I don’t think it’s that important for a transfer. Getting your AA with a high GPA is the deal breaker.

Biggest priority as a transfer is complete your Foreign Language requirement, and CLAS requirements.

OP said he is not waiting until his AA, but is applying for spring. So he has to meet freshman and transfer criteria, and needs a good ACT score.

thank you sunny Florida, im just looking for a median score…anybody?

The academic profile of the middle 50 percent of freshmen accepted in 2010 was: 3.5-4.2 academic GPA; 25-29 ACT composite; 1730-1950 SAT total.

I would aim for a 27-29. What did you get when you took it in HS?

what does this mean it just got update:

An updated transcript which includes Fall Term grades is required.

I applied for fall of 2011 so am i on hold till fall grades are out?

You applied way early for a transfer. usually a transfer for Fall 2011 applies spring or even summer of 2011. They want grades. So yes, they will not look at your application until they have fall 2010 grades. BE WARNED, they could then decide to wait until they have spring grades.

Transfers are totally different than freshman admissions. Freshman apply in fall for the next fall. Transfers are evaluated WITH AS MUCH INFO AS POSSIBLE and that means not until one term or less before the term you want to enroll. They want to know what you are doing grade wise right up until they decide, not a year before.
