Transfer Student Housing

I'm considering transferring to Albany in the Fall this year. Looking at housing, the site says that a "majority" of transfers get placed into the downtown campus rather than the main campus. If I'm going to be a junior next year, do I have practically zero chance of living on the main campus? I'd really like to be close to all my classes and having to take a shuttle to get to class is really something I don't want to do.

Also, if I have a friend who currently attends Albany and we both request each other as roommates, will that help me get onto the main campus?

Thanks for any help you people can give me!

Requesting your friend as a roommate can definitely help your chances, especially if their housing lotto number is high. Otherwise your stuck on Alumni and I’m sorry because most people really don’t like alumni housing, but it’s where international and transfer students automatically get placed because they don’t get housing lotto numbers.
