Okay so I applied to Tulane University because it was free to apply. I just want to see if I'll get accepted. It was weird because I don't know how they got my e-mail and why their application is free for transfers. I have never heard of that before until now. Anyways it's not like I'll go there unless I get some scholarship because their tuition is ridiculous. How great is this school by the way? I do like that it is private.. but once again I cannot afford it. Is this a competitive school?

The app is free for everyone, transfers included. It is an expensive school, but of course so are most private schools. I don’t know how much they have in the way of scholarships for transfers, but they might offer a nice grant as part of the FA package. Pretty much the same thing. Just depends on your stats of course.

Most of us on here think Tulane is pretty great, and you can see comments from current students on other threads here on the Tulane section. It is competitive, but not cut-throat. If you went simply by academic stats (standardized test scores and the like) Tulane would rank somewhere in the low to mid 30’s among national universities. Their USNWR ranking suffers from post-Katrina issues, mostly. Hopefully after another year, once Katrina is more than 6 years out, this will be less of an issue.

Seriously? You live in FL and you’ve nevber heard of Tulane?

I applied to Tulane and there was no charge. Loyola sent me a letter in the mail and I was unfamiliar with them too. Perhaps I might get a phi theta kappa scholarship if I get in? I hope that is the case if anything.

inertchemist, going on other college’s threads to recruit for Loyola is really not cool. I like Loyola just fine, but really. And Tulane and many other schools do indeed sen information to the members of Phi Theta Kappa from community colleges.
