Hey,
How are science courses there?
@cusnew Hi, I have never taken any science classes here; however, I have heard that the school is not the strongest in the sciences. I think I recall that for some science majors, graduate courses of study are not available. You should double check this though.
One of my friends is a biology major about to graduate. She was just flown out to NYU Abu Dhabi for an all-expenses paid trip to tour their campus for graduate school. I also attended a student lecture by a student who had conducted a summer-long research project. She knew her stuff and several professors seemed to be really passionate about helping her conduct her research.
This is really all I know about the science courses. Please let me know if you have any further question. Good luck!
Thank you. Is it hard to get a high gpa there? Please let me know.
Those who flourish in the sciences at Fordham are few and far between. There are those that just really take to it like fish to water. And they managed to use what limited science resources Fordham has and flown with it. This person must really be on top of their game. I know of a few students who are prehealth and are doing very well.
It really depends on the student. My daughter did prehealth and loves science and is no dummy. But she had to drop it when her GPA was jeopardized such that she would lose her scholarship. She has friends at NYU in prehealth and had no problem doing their work.
Fordham is NOT known for the sciences. Their labs need updating.
It really isn’t hard to obtain and keep a high GPA. My daughter had to take an EP1 in a subject that she absolutely HATES (everything else was closed out) and no matter how hard she tried she got a C. But in everything else, she did very very well. Except for that one core class and her prehealth classes, those tanked the cumulative GPA.
I’m a bit nervous because I would like to do pre-med there, but I don’t want to have a bad gpa. Any advice?

Hi,
I’m considering transfering to Fordham this fall from the university of Miami (currently a freshman). But, I’m not sure if I should do it. My GPA first semester was a 3.0 and I am currently a finance student. I am looking at Fordham because of their location (amazing for internships), their business school (which I believe is better than Miami’s), and my sister also goes to fordham so it would be nice to see her more often and be a lot close to home (PA). My reasons for transferring is because I feel that Fordham is a school where I can focus more on academics with a lot less distractions. I am currently rushing a frat and feel that even if I drop I will still struggle to do well here. Would you say it is easy for transfer students to meet people and make friends? Thanks for the advice.
Hey, I got accepted into Fordham as a transfer and I am really considering it. I just wanted to know what your overall experience has been like (sorry I know you’ve probably answered before). Do you ever get bored on the weekends? What’s the off-campus housing like? Thanks so much
Which off campus apartment is the best and why? Also do you get to find roommates for those or is it random?
When did you find out about the scholarship money received? I heard that transfers don’t usually get aid. I need aid to be able to go so I’m hoping that’s wrong.
I can assure you you won’t be able to afford an apartment in that part of Manhattan as a student.
Plenty of kids at Rose Hill have off campus apartments. They’re affordable…not sure of the quality though.
@RealMadrid07 Hi, Sorry for the delayed response.
It is certainly easy to meet people and make friends. No one treats you different because you are a transfer. In fact, no one will even know, and they will forget if you tell them. Once you go to Fordham, you’re a Fordham student.
I would suggest thinking long and hard about where you decide to attend university. Make sure you are doing a transfer for the right reasons. I can assure you that there are a lot of distractions here. We may not have frats, but NYC is truly the city that never sleeps. You could always transfer after completing your sophomore year. This would allow you the opportunity to increase your GPA a tad.
Regardless of whether or not you transfer, know that your hard work will pay off wherever you attend university.
@njkid2021 Hi, please see my previous post regarding off-campus housing.
I can assure you that you will not get bored during the weekend. Manhattan in literally 20 minutes away. In fact, there is so much to see you will never see it all!
I’m really happy that I chose Fordham. It’s a great school and has already shaped me in a great way.
@collegetransfr12 If you transfer, it is random. Or, at least it was for me. If you know some people already here, you might be able to request to live with them.
Terra Nova is closest to campus. Hughes is furthest away, but it is the newest-- built in 2007.
@daniellelsa, I believe I found out in June or so. I know of one transfer who didn’t receive any money. I personally received about 50% off my tuition with several merit scholarships. See my stats if you are interested in comparing your scholastic profile.
Is there any Facebook group we can join to meet other transfer/current Fordham students and possibly find roommates
@collegetransfr12 I don’t think that there is a group. I think that most new students are placed into rooms randomly. I would double check on this by contacting the Office of Residential Life. Best of luck!
Hi. I just found out I am accepted to Fordham with xclorship. Not sure if I should go there because someone said the biology/pre med progr is not good. What do u think??
My daughter was accepted as a commuter student. Is there off campus housing specifically for freshman or is it mixed. Where can I get a list of available off campus housing? What is the normal cost per month to live off campus?
Does anyone know when we find out about financial aid? Also if some of our credits didn’t transfer but we believe they should have can we repeal that?
