Transfer Student URGENT Advice

Hi. I am a Deans List student at my current university and applying to schools elsewhere for politics, international relations, political science, intelligence anaylsis or homeland security depending on the school. I have a 4.0 GPA, three AP’s (4-1, 5-2), AP Scholar, Multiple EC’s etc.
Cost is a MAJOR issue! Right now my family only pays $10,000 out of pocket for my current university with all that scholarship. I am really not being academically challenged but am really unsure about where to apply, as most of the programs are extremely expensive. I am so stuck, and unsure.

I have been accepted into
University of Maine, Honors College & Scholarship
University of Arkansas & Scholarship

There is an alternative to transferring.

In nearly all cases your professors know more than they are teaching. They are designing their classes to be appropriate for the average student. They understand more than this and they could teach you more than this.

You could go to the professors for the classes that you find the most interesting. Tell them that you like the subject and you want to learn more. Ask them for what else you can do.

$10,000 per year is a very economical university by US standards, even for an in-state public university. It is a very good idea to avoid debt for a bachelor’s degree if you can.

What’s your EFC?

If you need a lot if need based aid, apply to national LACs ranked 12-15 and up (20, 30…)

If you need merit aid, things get iffy.
