Transfer Student With W's on Record

Hello, I screwed up and got three W’s my first semester at a community college, along with a C+. Since then, all my grades have been straight A’s and I have a 3.8 GPA. I’m an Exercise Science student and I plan to minor in Film Production.

Clubs

  • Exercise Science Club
  • Film Club
  • Student Government (Senator)
  • Honor Society
  • Service Learning Club (Vice President)

I’ve won several scholarships and volunteer twice a week. What are my chances of getting into a university with a low (15-18%) acceptance rates like USC or UCLA? Have my W’s basically screwed me over? Is there anything else I can improve to up my chances of getting in?

I went to Transfer Day and they addressed this very issue… They said while 3 W’s is pushing it for them, they appreciate upward trends and consistency. If that semester was your o my senester with W’s and you have a good for explanation as to why that happened, I think they will be able to overlook it. Good luck!

You ask if there is anything you can do to improve-yes, get good grades in your classes from here onward. If you do that, I am sure that the earlier semester won’t impact much.
