Transfer Student

Hi guys,

I applied to MIT this year and got rejected (int). But I don't give up and I am still aiming for MIT. I thought about starting at another university first and then transferring to MIT.

Which of the following two options would you go for:

Start at Boston University
Pros: I'd already be in Boston, language, maybe some intersections with MIT programs,...
Cons: Extremely Expensive (no financial aid for international students), Ranking not as good as ETH Zurich's

Start at ETH Zurich
Pros: Comparable cheap, great ranking (12 world-wide)
Negative: Courses in German, "far" away from Boston

Out of these two universities. From which one do you think I have higher chances of transferring to MIT? Right now my favorite is ETH. It's not only better according to the rankings but also cheaper.

Either way, I have to defer since I have to do civil service first :-/

Looking forward to hearing from you and a big thanks in advance!!

Where would you want to go if you couldn’t transfer to MIT in the end?

If your goal is to get into MIT, it is easier as a Freshmen or 1st year Grad Student than as a transfer. Better to take a year off and develop a passion that will separate you from the rest of the pack.
