Transfer student

I’m sure that I can’t be the only person trying to transfer this year, however my position might be a little unique. Last year I only auditioned for two okay mt schools, I got in, but my heart wasn’t in it. I had been wrestling with my self confidence and whether I was willing to do this for a career. If that wasn’t enough, I had a large amount of drama happening within my school’s theatre department. Hence, I decided to take a break from theatre and maybe try something new. Luckily, I had applied to an in-state engineering program and was offered admittance. I had already planned on sending out some prescreens and maybe auditioning for some new schools depending on how I felt after my first semester and not it’s only been two weeks of school and I know that I wish I had been able to go to school for theatre. So, I’m looking to transfer. However, I’m not a theatre student, so I know that I would probably have to start out as a freshman. Does anyone have any advice on a non theatre major applying to transfer into a mt program? Or maybe there are a few kindred spirits out there who are also transferring or have taken are taking a gap year and auditioning this year?

My daughter transferred from MT program to MT program. Overall, the process wasn’t different from the first year, so I would say the same regardless of theatre major to theatre major or non theatre major to theatre major. The one thing that changed was the scholarships available for transfer students. Some schools still offer good merit scholarships for transfers but most do not.
