I’m looking to transfer to the university of richmond, and am currently a freshman that finished my first semester with a 3.58 and graduated high school with a 4.01 out of a 4.0 scale. I play field hockey at a D1 big ten school, so I havn’t had any time to participate in extracurriculars within my school. Im looking to see if anyone thinks I am able to get in as a transfer student?
Where are you now?
My biggest concern is that your 3.58 first semester is decent but not super impressive. Why do you want to transfer after only one semester? Do you have SAT or ACT scores?
I am pretty sure that field hockey is an extracurricular.
I think you have a fair shot as long as you keep your GPA up. Your GPA is in the normal range for a UR transfer student. I would try to get involved with 1 or 2 more things at school. Even some community service, just something you have a passion for!
You have a good shot. I transferred to Richmond with the same GPA cumulative, but at the time I applied, I had a much lower GPA. Getting involved in anything while you are still at your current institution is a bonus but not required. Most of the people in the transfer class were not involved in a huge number of activities but actually one or fewer. I have a lot to talk about regarding the transition to Richmond as a transfer student if you needed any additional information. But based on your GPA, I believe you are a good candidate. Be aware the transfer acceptance rate is roughly 20%.
