Transfer student

Hey all, I am currently a senior in high school. I have been accepted into UNCC but waitlisted at UNC-CH and NCSU. My plan was to attend UNCC for one year and then transfer to NCSU. However, I have done so much research on UNCC and have heard worse than good stuff about the university. Now I am really worried as I do not want to attend a bad university. My plan is now to attend a community college for one year and then transfer to NCSU, however, I fear that my chances of getting into State as a community college transfer student are really low since it is a stereotypical concept of community colleges to be considered as inferior. I was really excited about attending UNCC, but now I have a bad feeling. I will talk to my counselor first thing tomorrow morning to see which option is best. But first I would like to hear opinions from you all, especially students who attend or have attended UNCC. Should I go to community college and save money then transfer? Is UNCC really that bad? Please help!

GPA (UW/W): 3.6/4.4
SAT score: 1080 (I know that it is very low, but it is the highest score on my 3rd attempt)
I have taken various AP, IB, and honor courses throughout my high school years. I have also been involved in many clubs.

Thank you!
