ughhh, it’s been a week since i received my acceptance, but i have to yet to see any link to see which of my classes would transfer…

what’s worse is that i am supposed to be doing study abroad with my current university this summer, but i applied and got accepted for that way before getting into neu. do you guys know what would happen about that? do you think neu will make me drop it?

Are any of you admits rethinking your major now? I am. I got wait-listed at Boston College so I will be sending my deposit to NEU, but now I want to switch majors. I tried to request a major change through myneu, but got denied. I’m getting kind of nervous now though because I’m not sure if I am willing to attend a school where I can’t do the major that I want. I know, I’m flaky, but still!

From what major to what major did you attempt? I went from Criminal Justice to Economics. I know that the Engineering and Business majors are very difficult to transfer into because they have limited spots.

It’s a bit of a drastic change, but I wanted to go from human services to either nursing or behavioral neuroscience. How did you go about switching?

I’m pretty sure for nursing you have to go in accepted into the nursing program but I’m not too sure about behavioral neuroscience. It probably would have helped if under the comments section you explained your reason(s) for wanting to change your major. That’s what I did and they accepted it the same day.

Thanks. I did explain my reasons, but was still denied. I think I may just go to NEU and apply to the nursing school while there. hopefully it works out.

I’m sure if you work hard and do well in your classes you should be fine. I’d also recommend speaking to an accepted student rep or a nursing major rep. They can probably answer your questions and let you know exactly what it takes to change majors.

Okay so I just found out that they are going to admit me as a behavioral neuroscience major and I will have the option to try to internally transfer into nursing after 1 semester. However, they say that transferring into nursing is highly unlikely, but not impossible.

That’s good news. Did you get any incite from NEU as to reasons/differences for some majors being more difficult to request a switch into? I wonder if it has to do with the students credentials too

@Acruz1991 Thanks for your advice and encouragement!

@nctrani713 Thank you! Well she said that the bouve college of health sciences doesn’t accept any external transfers. Nursing is especially difficult because there is a very high retention rate. I think the same is true for engineering. Were you planning on trying to switch as well?

Oh ok. And no I am not but feel your pain about being uncomfortable about investing in school when your not certain about your major. My two roommates actually got into engineering. We all transferred from the same college and they were happy about getting into that program because of it being one of the more competitive majors at NEU. They have not sent out roommate assignments yet tho. Not trying to alarm anyone lol. But when we requested each other they said it should work out.

^^ Thanks. And that’s awesome! Good for them. My father graduated with an engineering degree from NEU and I would consider him relatively successful. :p

But it gives me hope that your friends were able to get into such a competitive program as engineering. Maybe getting into nursing won’t be as impossible as I thought.

Hi all! Congrats on getting in…
I actually just applied at the beginning of June (they extended the deadline). I am still waiting to hear from them as I just got all of my things in about a week ago. How long does it take?

It usually takes 2-4 weeks from the time your app is complete. Have you heard back by now? I just finished two summer courses in mid July to obtain the last prerequisites I needed to switch into the college of business admin. I was accepted last week into CBA for finance. What major did you apply for?

Under WEB should provide a code that corresponds to the housing rates. For example, mine says INV-B which is international village. If you log out of the housing info and log back in, there is a link for '12-'13 room rates. Then from there click the second downloadable rate chart called upperclass rate charge. Match your code with the building.
