Are there any transfer students here? It seems like most of the people on here are frosh, so I was wondering if there were any transfer students too. If so, tell me how you feel about the change and a little bit about yourself.

To start off, I'm transferring from Sacramento to UCSC this Fall. I'm a Sociology major, but I'm thinking about changing it to History or American Studies when I get there. I'm gonna be living on campus but I'm not sure which college yet. (So far, I'm think Cowell, Stevenson, Kresge, 9 and 10 will be my top 5). I'm kinda nervous about the transition since it will be the first time that I'm actually independent, but I think that this upcoming year is gonna be great!

Well, I’m a transfer who plans to begin at UCSC this winter, and in the meantime I’ll be moving to Santa Cruz this July with my girlfriend. I think Santa Cruz will suit me just perfectly, and after three years at a CCC in Irvine I can’t frickin’ wait to move out and finally be at a university. I love the beach, and I wanted to move to Northern California, so Santa Cruz just seems right for me. Plus, SC would be much more lenient on things like graduating in three years, and unit caps, allowing me to double major in Computer Science and Film and Digital Media. When I graduate I’d like to look for a job at Pixar Animation Studios, Microsoft, or other similar places.

I’ll be transferring there in the Fall after I finish up at Sierra College. I’ll be a Film and Digital Media major, although I can’t actually declare it until I complete the lower division Film prerequisites at SC itself. I’m going to live off campus as it’s much more affordable than the on campus apartments and I’m too old to be bothering with double and triple occupancy rooms and dorms and the like. In submitting my intent to register, I asked for a random college assignment. The campus is attractive, though certainly not traditional, but the city is a bit small for my tastes. It was between San Francisco and Santa Cruz and I wasn’t impressed with the presentation that SF’s Cinema department put on during the spring preview. It ended up being that the city itself was the only thing SFSU had going for it and I decided the program was more important. I can tolerate low key Santa Cruz and an overabundance of hippies for two years.
